Aliens in America

I mmigrants are the key to the infrastructure of the United States. They have helped our country develop in areas such as labor and diversity. Would it be fair to just decide to rid our nation of them? Isn’t America supposed to be the land of the immigrants? Recently the United States government has decided to vote on a bill that would prevent Mexicans from entering the United States illegally. Apparently they have been entering the United States through a whole in the fifteen foot tall wire fence that currently divides the two countries. There are approximately 10 to 12 million immigrants in the United States from Mexico. That is more than half of the population of the state of New York.

This means that a solid cement wall that would be approximately eleven feet high would exists along the border between Mexico and the United States. There will be cameras lining the highest peaks of this wall as well as barbed wire. There would also be dozens of security guards patrolling the border line.

Personally, I think this wall would be a good idea for the Mexican society. It would give them a chance to see that their nation is on its own. These people can not continue to run to America as a way to alleviate their issues. It would be great if they realized that no one is there to help them but their government. It would give them a chance to demand an improvement in the infrastructure of their nation.

This bill would also enact a law that would give the government permission to remove illegal immigrants that are already in this country. Over ten million people will be removed from this country. Our society would be less diverse. This act would send a direct message to the Mexican society that they are not welcome here and they need to get up and make a change in their country. Removing our countries major laborers would create fewer jobs that are off the books and more jobs that are legit and legal.

I think that removing people from a place that they have learned to adapt to is inhumane. Even if they are legal, they should not be removed. Once a person migrates into another society they should be given the opportunity to pursue that dream. It is wrong to sample a dream and have it taken from you when you are one step closer.

I think that American society has a negative view of Mexicans because of their stereotype. Mexicans are known for their ‘mañana syndrome’ – the process of delaying priorities. Americans often view Mexicans as simple workers who would rather do nothing but work. Both bills vary in the way it would impact both the American and Mexican societies. Some changes are necessary as they will help to improve the lifestyles of millions of people. Some may see it as a struggle and some may see as an opportunity to improve their status as individuals.
