T -mobile is launching two new Sidekick phones aimed at luring more teenagers to the wireless company’s popular brand of cell phones.
Dubbed the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick Slide, the phones will begin to sell in stores this month. The Sidekick LX comes next in line after the popular Sidekick 3, one of the most popular phones with its wide keyboard, swivel screen and 1.3 mega pixel camera. Sidekicks are well known for their amazing texting feautures, this attracts many teenagers and young adults because texting has become more conveinent than talking on the phone, it saves time.
So what’s the difference between the Sidekick 3 and the Sidekick LX? Well according to T-mobile’s website the Sidekick LX is, “Everything you need and want in a phone and more.”
“I’m definetly buying the Sidekick LX,” says 16 year old Sidekick 3 owner Alexandria Williams Of Benjamin Banneker Academy, “The fact that it’s midnight blue makes it so sexy and mysterious, I have to have it!”
Others teenagers don’t feel the same way. Antonio Desousa of Friedisburg ,Virginia says he wouldn’t but the LX or the Slide. He’s content with his Sidekick 3. He says it has everything he needs.
Unlike the Sidekick 3,with the Sidekick LX, you can hold up to ten different conversations on Aim, MSN and Yahooo you can also send picture messages and go directly to myspace, which is also very popular among teenagers, with always on constant connect, one touch and you’re in! You can maintain connections with four email accounts, a full keyboard and a serious high resoulution screen. When it comes to web browsing…there is less scrowling and more viewing.
The Sidekick LX is made by the original Sidekick manufactur Sharp/Danger. It has a larger 3-inch screen and 65,000 color tft display and 400 by 240 pixel. You can have it in your choice of “midnight blue” or “expresso brown” for an amazing $299.99 on contract. It will be available to T-mobile customers on Oct.17 and the rest of the world will be able to purchase it on Oct.24.
Two weeks later the Sidekick Slide will drop. Unlike the Sidekick LX, the Sidekick Slide is made by Motorolla. It features a smaller design that measures 4.6 wide by 2.6 inches high and it weighs 5.3 ounces compared to the Sidekick 3 which is 5.1 inches wide and 2.3 inches high. It has a higher resolution screen at 320 by 240 pixels and 65,000 colors. Basically it has the same features as the Sidekick LX but its Sleeker and Slimmer and its screen slides up. Its available in stores Nov.7.
Patrick Oseni, a 16 year old Sidekick 3 owner of Medgar Edvers Highschool says he hopes the Sidekick Slide and the Sidekick LX doesn’t have charging problems like the Sidekick 3. He plans on getting the Sidekick Slide and hopes he gets his money worth.
A T-mobile representative says, “The new Sidekicks are definetly better than the Sidekick 3.”
